Looking south from the top of Mt. Sugarloaf is one of the best known views in the 410-mile river valley. After cutting through the mountains, hills and gorges of northern New England, the river slows to a calm meander through the flat, rich farmland of the Pioneer Valley. Photographer Al Braden captured this classic view with the late afternoon sun lighting the scene perfectly.
