Trash Talk: What is Extended Producer Responsibility?
November 10, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a policy framework that requires producers of products to be responsible for the end use of the product.
Come learn about existing EPR laws in our river states as well as some new initiatives. While nineteen states have multiple mandated EPR laws, California, Vermont and Maine lead the nation in EPR bills. Extended producer responsibility shifts the cost of disposal from municipalities back to the producers, which incentivizes better design, recycling and creates new markets, in other words: LESS WASTE.
Join Sydney Harris, Policy and Programs Manager of the Product Stewardship Institute; Jen Heaton-Jones, Chair of the CT Product Stewardship Council and Executive Director of the Housatonic Resources Recovery Association; and Connecticut River Conservancy River Stewards – Kelsey Wentling, Andrea Donlon and Kathy Urffer – will share EPR efforts in our watershed states. We invite you to join the dialogue.
