Did you know that Vermont has nearly 1,000 dams on its rivers? While many property owners and communities are strongly attached to their dams, their continued presence comes at a cost to fish passage, poses risks to public safety, and compromises the overall health of our waters.

Join us for an engaging webinar about the history of dams and their impacts in Vermont, and how the environmental community is coming together to help remove derelict dams across the state.  The presentation, “Reconnecting Vermont’s Rivers for Fish, People and Communities”, will also explore the dam removal success story at Wood’s Lodge in Northfield.  The webinar will be followed by a Q&A with the panelists:

River barriers like dams, sluices and many other obstacles threaten many fish species’ survival. The Vermont Dam Task Force works to reconnect our rivers to support thriving fish populations, improve recreational access, and restore a river’s natural capacity to handle flooding.
