LiveStream S3, Ep2: Along for the Ride: Adventures on the Connecticut River

Join us for a virtual adventure on the Connecticut River. Part storytelling and part how-to, you’ll be excited and prepared for the spring and summer recreation season! Enjoy stories told by two river adventurers that highlight different ways you can get out on the Connecticut River in all four states.

This episode will feature Rowan Lytle, an angler from Connecticut, and Kari Kastango, swimmer extraordinaire, who is embarking on year four of swimming the entire length of the Connecticut River.  Join us to hear details about their adventures to date, and what lies ahead in 2022. We’ll also share the rich resources of the Connecticut River Paddlers Trail. Psst … we have a new map to ‘unfold’ with you!

About the speakers
Rowan Lytle is a central CT-based fishing guide, writer, photographer, and conservationist. He is the chair of the Connecticut chapter of Native Fish Coalition and longtime volunteer for CRC as a river herring observer. Rowan guides anglers in the Connecticut River watershed and enjoys teaching them about the life histories of the fish and wildlife that utilize the varied habitats found near his home territory, and the importance of protecting and restoring those habitats for the native species that require them. He is also strongly devoted to the study and protection of New England’s reptiles and amphibians.
Kari Kastango is a statistician by training. When she is not swimming the Connecticut River, she works remotely at a clinical research organization that analyzes medical research data. She lives in South Hadley with her wife and two cats. Kari enjoys physical pursuits that are meditative in nature. She has completed two ultra-distance triathlons, multiple long-distance bike rides, and the Boston Light Swim, twice, as part of a relay team.
