Position Description:
Connecticut River Conservancy (CRC) is seeking a motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Seasonal Environmental Education and Outreach Assistant. This part-time seasonal position will play a key role in our efforts to promote environmental education and community engagement in the Connecticut River watershed. Assistant will lead CRC’s Compass Youth Paddles from July through August, once a week. Assistant will participate in school visits, summer camps, and events as needed. The assistant will also create environmental education programming and materials. Opportunity to assist with Source to Sea Cleanup in the fall.
Most non-event work can be done remotely or at the Hartford office. This position requires access to a car and mileage accrued while working somewhere other than the office will be reimbursed at the IRS rate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead the Compass Youth Paddle program which teaches young people to paddle
• Participate in outreach events to promote awareness of issues affecting the Connecticut River Watershed, occasionally on evenings and weekends
• Assist in the development and delivery of environmental education programs for diverse audiences, including schools, community groups, and the public
• Collaborate with team members to create engaging educational materials and activities
Position Requirements:
• Enthusiasm for the environment and river ecology
• Experience teaching or organizing events
• Comfort with working with a wide range of ages
• Experience with paddling or willingness to learn
• A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekend events
