Position Description:
The Content Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of written and visual content to promote CRC’s initiatives, including marketing content, events, and program updates. We are seeking someone who is skilled in both content creation and content management, and is comfortable with navigating the backend logistics this can sometimes entail – including organizing media files or contacts, sourcing graphics, and being available for on-the-ground activities that require staff support or documentation.
This is a collaborative role that is supervised by the Communications Director and will work closely with the Events Manager. Since nonprofit communications are often a reflection of the entire organization’s mission, you will also have the opportunity to work with many other staff for creative multi-media storytelling around our different program areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Creation- 50%
- Create written content, both short-form and long-form, to summarize upcoming initiatives, completed projects, or community engagement activities
- Publish content and associated alt text where needed based on communication strategy and format guidelines – such as on our blog, website, social media channels, Eventbrite, or email
- Create visual graphics to support media storytelling – including flyers, infographics, banners, and advertisements
Event Planning and Execution – 30%
- Participate in planning and execution of CRC events including the Source to Sea Cleanup and Riverfest
- Contribute to ongoing development and actualization of equitable and inclusive event planning practices
- Attend and document events with photos, videos, and written summaries
- Pack and organize physical materials when needed for events, tabling, or community outreach – including transporting materials when needed (mileage is reimbursable)
- Potential opportunity to take on additional events management responsibilities based on candidate fit and organizational needs
Logistics, Reporting, and Support – 20%
- Support organizational logistics related to communications, marketing, or events, such as updating web pages, categorizing media files, communicating with vendors, and submitting brand details to third-party sites or partners
- Conduct outreach, send press releases, and support the maintenance of our media monitoring/press database
- Support the Communications Director and Events Manager with reporting data, including Google Analytics, Social Media growth, and event signups
- Elevate our strategy or communication plans with innovative ideas beyond manager directive – we are open to fresh ideas and seeking a forward-thinking mindset
Direct Reports: No employees will be reporting to this person.

- Demonstrated experience in communications or marketing, including
- Managing a range of content types (e.g. blog, email, social media, web, print)
- Tailoring content effectively for specific communities, audiences, and formats in alignment with strategic goals
- Creating and modifying visual content in response to brand guidelines and communications objectives
- History of enhancing visual design skills through ongoing feedback and guidance from supervisors and/or industry professionals, a minimum of three years preferred
- Experience in event coordination or support, with a minimum of one year of involvement
- Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, and proficiency in using platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Google. Experience with at least one professional web platform (e.g. WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify) is preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity (as opposed to equality), inclusion, and fostering belonging in workplace culture
- Basic photography and video-editing skills
- Professional fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) is a plus

Salary, Benefits, and Travel:
The starting salary range set for this position is $50,000 – 54,000. CRC provides medical, dental, and vision benefits with BCBS and up to 3% retirement contribution match.
The Content Coordinator will be a hybrid position with some office presence in Greenfield, MA as needed. Applicants must be able to travel within the Connecticut River watershed and regularly attend staff meetings and regional events.
Overview of the Organization
Since 1952, Connecticut River Conservancy (CRC) has been a voice for the Connecticut River watershed, from source to sea. We collaborate with partners across four states (VT, MA, NH, and CT) to protect and advocate for our rivers and educate and engage communities. We bring people together to prevent pollution, improve habitat, and promote enjoyment of the rivers and streams.

During this time, we built a restoration program that has removed 20 dams and planted over 70,000 trees and native shrubs, created one of the northeast’s largest freshwater bacteria monitoring programs, grew our annual Source to Sea Cleanup which has been running for 26 consecutive years, maintained steady and effective advocacy for strong environmental standards, provided community science opportunities for thousands of volunteers with migratory fish monitoring and invasive species removal, and supported many regional environmental partner initiatives.
