The Connecticut River Watershed Council recently was notified by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation that our grant application for the upper Wells River corridor planning project was approved.

This grant will help CWRC, in partnership with the Caledonia County Natural Resource Conservation District (CCNRCD), improve water quality by remediating sediment and nutrient loading, building flood resiliency, and reducing stream/infrastructure conflict in communities along the Wells River and its watershed. Goals of this project will be met primarily through Phase 2 Stream Geomorphic Assessment (SGA), bridge and culvert assessment, mapping, planning, and project identification and development in the towns of Groton, Ryegate, Topsham, and Newbury, Vermont.  Work will begin in spring 2015 and wrap up in the fall.
