CRC is delighted to present at Rockfall Foundation’s “Middletown Green Drinks Environmental Networking” series.

Aquatic invasive species are non-native species that outcompete native species. They are not only a nuisance to paddlers and boaters, but they are a threat to native ecosystems and waterways. Water chestnut and hydrilla are two species that are particularly impacting Middletown’s waters. Learn more about these pesky plants and how you can make a difference to protect habitats and learn about Connecticut River Conservancy’s volunteer and advocacy efforts to stop invasive species.

Rhea Drozdenko works for the Connecticut River Conservancy as the River Steward in CT. In this role, she oversees aquatic invasive species removal and prevention efforts through fundraising, organizing events, and doing outreach and advocacy. Some of Rhea’s other projects include advocating against plastic pollution, promoting recreation, and studying watershed health. She is a Middletown resident and can often be found reading a book at Harbor Park.
