CRC’s Director of Restoration Programs, Ron Rhodes to speak as part of the Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust’s (ACT) Speaker Series.

You may have seen a recent article in the Caledonian (Jan ’21) about the bank restoration project happening along the Ammonoosuc River in Lisbon this summer. The is property along 302, and just beside the popular and well-traveled rail trail.

Although bank restoration and stabilization efforts have been ongoing since 2011, this one is a bit different. ACT partnered with The Connecticut River Conservancy (CRC) – coordinating the effort – and the Natural Resources Conservation Service agency (NRCS) on this exciting project. Along with tree and shrub plantings – there’s some more major work planned. Heavy equipment will be on site this summer to install 18 tree trunks and root balls into the bank to reduce bank erosion, improve water quality and increase habitat for native fish.

Ron Rhodes of CRC, ACT’s Rick Walling, and Tom Ebert of NRCS will discuss the details of the plan and answer your questions.
